Townshend (68) and Daltrey (69) are never far from each other's side, yet both men have different ideas about how to keep an audience entertained. With more than a little help from their friends, of course. Whatever you call it, it's a testament to Townshend and Daltrey's skills as both showmen and musicians that they just about manage to paper over the cracks to deliver a storming rendition of one of their most recognised works. Call it an entertaining exercise in prog rock. Call it a bad day at the seaside a musical tale of Jimmy and his 'friends' struggling to find The Real Me. At least, that's how they play it in 2013. 81 minutes on record, 100 in a live setting. Lest we forget, tonight is all about The Who's 1973 rock opera, Quadrophenia. The sea swells (so that's what those enormous, circular screens are for), Townshend throws on his shades, and we're off. Both men are in place, surrounded, as always, by a gang of well-oiled supporting players. Or might that have been Pete Townshend that decided on such a witty pre-concert message? It doesn't matter. " Chris Wasser – 10 June 2013 02:30 PM "Roger is allergic to smoke and would greatly appreciate if you could stick to brownies." Good man, Daltrey. And sometimes that’s not necessarily a good omen to working together if you understand what I mean?” …The unfortunate part about it is we became best buddies. And it took about a few months, but anyway we got him home. I said I can’t take it any more… Get him home. I said if you don’t he’s gonna be dead within nine months guaranteed. I rang Bill Curbishley up, the Who’s manager, I said Bill, get him home. I said if you don’t get yourself together, you ain’t going to be here. And I just said Keith, I’m out of here mate. For some reason, Keith attracted all the wrong elements of the LA set, and the drug situation was getting beyond a joke, and that was the first time we had an almighty punch-up ever. “When I left Keith, he was in his beach house, living next door to Steve McQueen in Trancas, just up the coast from Malibu, and it was just getting out of order. Anyone unwilling to wait for my story must address the facts at hand and make their own decision." Butler left Moon’s employ in late 1977, when an opportunity arose for him to work with filmmaker Jeff Stein, who was working on Who biopic The Kids Are Alright at the time. Until I complete my memoirs I rely on my family, friends, fans and colleagues to believe in me almost unconditionally. He went on to explain that he is not yet comfortable talking in depth about the arrest and the personal damage it did to him: "The story of my life is as yet untold. The caution I received was mandatory because I admitted using a credit card as part of a wider research exercise intended to gather evidence to present to various finance and Internet companies to persuade them to try harder to prevent the use of children in the pornography industry. He explained that, "I was cleared of all charges brought against me. Townshend, who is working on his autobiography, titled Who He, claims that he was sexually abused as a child, by either his grandmother or one of her boyfriends. Townshend, who was waiting to be interviewed along with his girlfriend Rachel Fuller and bandmate Roger Daltrey, was reportedly incensed after hearing Stern list the various personal topics he wanted to address with Townshend, including the 2003 child porn charges his admitted, then recanted, bisexual affairs and his close working relationship with Fuller, whom Stern poked fun of, jokingly saying, "Uh-oh, Yoko (Ono)." After Townshend and Fuller left, Daltrey went ahead with the interview alone with an apologetic Stern. I decided not to join what was developing into a light-hearted inquisition of sexual subjects that cause widely felt discomfort when not seriously addressed." I am not angry with Howard or his team and they have a perfect right to discuss my sexual past whenever they choose, I am a public person. He posted on his official website (.uk) that, "I would not say that I 'stormed out'of an interview with Howard Stern, I would say that I walked away. THE WHO's PETE TOWNSHEND explained why he left a London studio on Wednesday (October 25th), prior to being interviewed by phone on Howard Stern's Sirius satellite radio show.
